Paimio Sanatorium Foundation welcomes the first artists for the residence programme in May

Paimio Sanatorium’s first Summer Residency Program was launched in April with the mission to foster creativity in the fields of architecture, design, visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, writing, filmmaking, and curation.

The selection of the creative practitioners has now been made and all invited participants informed. The first artists will arrive at the Paimio Sanatorium at the end of May. The 15 three-week residencies will run until the end of August.

‘We are humbled to see the level of attraction towards the residency program. Over the past few days, the team has been carefully examining the vast collection of applications from over 130 renowned practitioners across the fields of art, architecture, and literature. We are excited to welcome a diverse group of creative thinkers and makers to the sanatorium and inspire their work with Alvar and Aino Aalto’s uniquely human architectural thinking,’ says Mirkku Kullberg from the Paimio Sanatorium Foundation.

The artist residency program runs from May to August. The residency program is part of the Paimio Sanatorium’s cultural and educational initiatives, which include summer schools, conferences, and exhibitions. During the residency, residency diaries are published on the Sanatorium’s own media platforms. The knowledge acquired will be integrated into the Foundation’s conferences, creating a dynamic exchange that benefits both the residents and the sanatorium’s ongoing initiatives.
