According to the rules of the institute, the purpose of the Paimio Sanatorium Institute will be to protect the sanatorium’s facilities and movable assets, as well as its architecturally and culturally significant intellectual and material property and the related values.
The memorandum of association of the Paimio Sanatorium Institute was signed on 27 October 2020. The institute was founded by the Hospital District of Southwest Finland, the State of Finland, the Alvar Aalto Institute, the Municipality of Paimio and the City of Turku. The Minister of Science and Culture Annika Saarikko and the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Krista Mikkonen signed the memorandum on behalf of the State.
The Institute has received capital and funding from the State, as well as funding from the Alvar Aalto Institute and the cities of Paimio and Turku.
The owner of the Paimio Sanatorium, the council of joint authority of the Hospital District of Southern Finland, will hand over the sanatorium’s facilities, including both buildings and movable assets, to the institute.
