Welcome to the big Summer Party on 17.–18.6. to celebrate the nine decades of Paimio Sanatorium!

The Paimio tuberculosis sanatorium designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto was inaugurated 18.6.1933. For 90 years, it has improved and served Finns while also providing employment generations after generations and at the same time it has became one of the most celebrated works of modern architecture.

Now it’s time for party, a genuine Finnish summer party all weekend long on the 17th and 18th of June.

We invite you to spend the summer weekend days with us and celebrate Paimio the sanatorium’s past and future. The doors and exhibitions of the Paimio sanatorium will open to the public on Saturday 17 June at 10 am, celebrations start at 1 pm.

The charming celebratory program includes writer meetings, a summer market, music and all kinds of experiences for the whole family.

Cordially welcome!

“Architecture must have charm, it is a factor of beauty in society. But true beauty is not a learned concept of form, but rather a consequence about the harmony of several internal factors – and not least social factors.”
