AIR

AIR - the art of breathing in the architecture of breathing. The summer exhibition AIR at Paimio Sanatorium spreads out into the stunning pine forest surrounding the sanatorium, the main building, and the dedicated exhibition space. AIR invites viewers to pause and recharge amidst experiential and tranquil contemporary art.
The group exhibition AVOIN showcases the work of three artists who work analogously with materials. Wood, paper, and clay are transformed under pressure into pieces that embody the typical expression of the creators. Pressure is present in the relief printing technique of graphic prints, in bending veneer waves, and in shaping clay by hand.
The exhibition reflects the multi-layered and multi-threaded heritage of contemporary art. The works in the exhibition have elements that come from the history of abstract art, which once also inspired Alvar Aalto.
The Human Perspective Poster Exhibition showcases posters from the poster competition were participants were invited to interpret Alvar and Aino Aalto’s vision of man’s relationship with his environment, architecture and design.
In the Sanatorium’s former patient rooms 209 to 213 Elina Brotherus shows photographic works created during two residency stays in 2015 and 2018 at Maison Louis Carré, the only Aalto building in France.
