Welcome to Paimio Sanatorium’s summer

Paimio Sanatorium’s summer invites you to enjoy architecture, art and experiences in the heart of a tranquil pine forest. Designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto, this modernist masterpiece offers a summer destination full of discovery.

Summer Exhibitions 2025
The 2025 summer exhibitions highlight the beauty of art, craft, and everyday objects.

The group exhibition “Time and Beauty” brings together Artek 2nd Cycle’s patinated design classics and contemporary Finnish artworks. Alongside Aalto’s iconic furniture, the exhibition features works made from ceramic, paper, and wood, inspired by nature, silence, and the cycles of life.
Participating artists: Arni Aromaa, Merja Castrén, Hanna van Ingen, Aura Kajas, Linda Linko, Leena Mäki-Patola, Laura Pehkonen and Tuuli Somma.

The exhibition is a living and evolving experience – many pieces and furniture items are for sale and will change during the summer, allowing for multiple visits and new discoveries. In the former patient rooms, visitors can also experience Linda Linko’s colorful paintings and ceramic works that add a bold voice to the exhibition.

Summer Shop
The Sanatorium’s curated summer shop offers a selection of design items – both new and vintage – that are beautiful and practical additions to the season.

Guided Tours and Accommodation
In summer 2025, guided tours are available in Finnish, English, and Swedish. The tours introduce visitors to the Sanatorium’s architecture, history, and unique atmosphere.

Visitors can also stay overnight in this historic setting. Accommodation is available in the main building’s retreat rooms (former patient rooms) and in the homely apartments of Mäntylä, the former nurses’ residence.
