Although the use of domestic materials were preferred in the building, the exceptionally large windows of the patients’ lounge had to be ordered from Germany. Can you find the two corner windows? Behind them were small greenhouses for plants. The famous Paimio Chair was also originally designed for the patients’ lounge.

Efforts were made to ensure seclusion for the nurses by placing their accommodation above the patients’ lounge, clearly separate from the patient rooms.
