Stay overnight at Paimio Sanatorium.
Seven rooms in the patient wing of the main building have been renovated to reflect the clear and serene atmosphere of the sanatorium’s original patient rooms.
Guests can also stay in cozy apartments in Mäntylä and Kyykartano Nurses’ House, which were originally designed for the staff.
Exhibitions
The AIR exhibition wants to stop the viewers and invite them to be recharged by experiential contemporary art. We live in a time where concentration is very difficult for most people. The AIR exhibition combines the art of breathing with the architecture of breathing by slowing down the pace.
The AIR exhibition takes over several locations in the sanatorium area: the main building, in the forest and in a smaller “Bunker” utility building by Aalto. The displaying artists are top names of Finnish contemporary art scene, including Josefina Nelimarkka, Tuomas A. Laitinen and Nastja Säde Rönkkö.
AVOIN group exhibition showcases the work of three artists who work analogously with materials. Wood, paper, and clay are transformed under pressure into pieces that embody the typical expression of the creators. Pressure is present in the relief printing technique of graphic prints, in bending veneer waves, and in shaping clay by hand.
ANOTHER REALITY is a group show by students at the Free Art School, Helsinki, a private educational institution founded in 1935. The exhibition, curated by artist Antti Oikarinen, has been inspired by the architecture, history and nature of the sanatorium and is in the main building.
Permanent exhibition ROOMS AT THE SANATORIUM is an experiential exhibition about the architecture, furniture and community of the Paimio Sanatorium, as well as the isolated everyday life of the sanatorium.
