Paimio Sanatorium’s Summer 2025 Exhibition Highlights the Aesthetics of Art, Craft, and Everyday Objects.  The Time and Beauty group exhibition brings together timeless design classics and contemporary Finnish art within an architecturally significant setting.

The Artek 2nd Cycle furniture pieces on display are living examples of enduring design. Chairs, tables, stools, and other objects have served their users across decades, bearing the visible traces of life lived. Their patina is not a flaw but a feature—beauty that makes the passage of time visible.

Alongside these iconic pieces are works by contemporary Finnish artists, inspired by themes such as nature, silence, and the cyclical rhythms of life. Crafted from natural materials like wood, paper, and ceramics, the artworks engage in a subtle dialogue with the furniture’s forms. The result is a spatial interplay in which art, design, and architecture merge into a cohesive experience.

The featured artists are Arni Aromaa, Merja Castrén, Hanna van Ingen, Aura Kajas, Linda Linko, Leena Mäki-Patola, Laura Pehkonen, and Tuuli Somma. Each brings a personal vision of time and beauty, revealing how material, the artist’s touch, and traces of lived experience are expressed through their works.

Time and Beauty is a living, evolving exhibition. As it also functions as a sales exhibition, some of the artworks and design pieces will change over the course of the summer. Visitors are invited to return and rediscover the exhibition in new ways. It’s an opportunity to find unique Artek 2nd Cycle pieces—and to see how art and ceramics integrate naturally into everyday spaces and furnishings.
