Rooms at Paimio Sanatorium is an experiential exhibition about the architecture, furniture and community of the Paimio Sanatorium, as well as the isolated everyday life of the sanatorium. Visitors to the exhibition can get to know patient rooms from the 1930s and 70s. In other rooms of the exhibition, the visitor can, for example, lie down on a hospital bed from the 1930s and test whether Alvar Aalto’s ‘silent sink’ is as quiet as promised.
In the exhibition, you can get to know the thinking of young architects Aino and Alvar Aalto and their collaboration with other professionals, and be intoxicated by the colors of the sanatorium under the wonderful, white exterior.
Rooms at Paimio Sanatorium is curated by Miina Karske and Martin Born in collaboration with Henna Helander.
