Paimio Sanatorium 90 – Human Perspective Poster Competition

How to enter

The competition is for visual communication professionals and students in Finland and abroad. 

Multiple submissions are welcome, but the 20 euro enrolment fee* must be paid for each individual entry.

All posters entered in the competition must be previously unpublished. Candidates commit to not publishing their competition entries until the results of the competition have been announced.

In case multiple individuals have collaborated on an entry, the names and contact information of all contributors must be included. Please fill in the enrolment form carefully. The individual who submits the entry to the competition is responsible for ensuring that the information provided is correct.

The image size of submitted entries must be 70 x 100cm, 300 dpi. The competition organiser reserves the right to disallow entries that don’t comply with these requirements.

Competition entries must include the Paimio Sanatorium 90 logo. Please download the logo here.

Though the size of the submitted posters must be 70×100 (300 dpi), the maximum file size uploaded via the entry form is 10MB. Please submit your entry in PDF format.
A high resolution version of the shortlisted entries will be requested for the exhibition.

Please name your poster and write a short description of it in English. This information will be needed on the enrolment form.

All submissions must be made using the electronic enrolment form. We do not accept email submissions.

The jury will review the electronic submissions to choose posters for the exhibition, which will form a shortlist. The production of the exhibition posters will be handled by the competition organiser.

The personnel of the competition organiser are not eligible to take part in the competition.

Winning posters

Candidates who participate in the competition acknowledge that the Paimio Sanatorium Foundation has the exclusive right to produce and sell copies of the winning posters through their own channels or other channels of their choice. The right to produce the posters will expire at the end of 2025. Separate sales contracts will be made between the winning designers and the Paimio Sanatorium Foundation. For every poster sold, the designer will receive a 5% royalty payment of the sales price excluding taxes. The competition organiser also reserves the right to produce and sell copies of the posters given honourable mentions, following the same terms and conditions.

Shortlisted entries

The competition organiser reserves the right to exhibit the posters submitted in the competition in Finland and elsewhere. They also have the right to produce physical and digital copies of the posters and showcase them to the public for communication, exhibition, educational and marketing purposes in different media without compensation. In addition to this, the competition organiser has the right to present the posters to the public in the form of a printed or electronic exhibition catalogue.

The designers retain the copyright to their work. Any copyright transfer will be negotiated separately in writing.

Enrolment is open from 10 February to 10 March 2023, closing on 10 March at 11:59 p.m. UTC+2. 

*Competition enrolment fees are allocated to Paimio Sanatorium’s artist residency program that offers one-week residency for ten artists at Paimio Sanatorium.
